Denture Care and Maintenance

Based on the ADA (American Dental Association) 120 million Americans are missing at least one tooth. So basically, 90% of these people are using a partial or full removable or fixed denture. Although, having a denture means fake teeth you have to provide maintenance for a good oral health like if they were your natural teeth.

Why should I clean my denture?

Firstly, is important to say that all types of dentures can accumulate plaque, tartar, stains and calculus like regular natural teeth. For that reason, you should keep a denture cleaning routine.

How to clean my partial or full denture?

Brush denture: you should aim to brush your denture 3 time a day with a soft bristles tooth brush and liquid soap or tooth paste and don’t forget to also brush your bar structure.

Overnight: before going to sleep, remove your denture and place it in a glass of purify or distilled water.

Denture cleanser: every 1 or 2 weeks soak your denture in water with one of this tables to help remove bacteria and plaque.

Regular dentist visit: as part of your good oral health, you should visit your dentist every 6 months for your routine check up + a full denture and bar structure cleaning.

Fixed Denture

If you have a fixed denture just follow your regular dental care: brushing and flossing + flossing under the structure bar and your 4 to 6 moths visits to the dentist for a routine check up and Denture Care and Maintenance.
